MICHAŁ LATKO

industrial and product designer, graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts, Katowice, at the faculty of Design, specializing in industrial forms and visual communication, and from the School of Humanities and Journalism, Poznań, at the faculty of Design Management. Until 2012, he was associated with the Academy of Fine Arts, Katowice, where he worked as a lecturer. He is the first and so far the only Pole who has won the prestigious Interior Motives Design Award in the "Best use of technology" category (Frankfurt 2005). In 2004 he received the Michelin Challenge Design award at the NAIAS (North American International Auto Show). In 2008 he was the winner of the "Śląska Rzecz” [Silesian Thing] contest in the Product category. Since 2005 he has run his own LATKO studio, providing services to all kinds of business clients ranging from the FMCG sector to heavy industry. He also cooperates with the CODE Architecture & Design studio, Katowice, Poland’s only winner of the prestigious Best of the Best title in the Red Dot contest. He is one of the people responsible for the market success of the VOX capital group where his designs supported the implementation of a new strategy of design and visual communication. Currently he is a member of the Design Silesia team.

 

ŁUKASZ SMOLARCZYK

Architect, social activist, lover of Upper Silesian industrial and modernist architecture. He graduated from the Silesian University of Technology, Gliwice, at the faculty of Architecture and Urban Planning and from the Jan Matejko Academy of Fine Arts, Kraków, at the faculty of Furniture Design and Interior Design. He cofounded the Association for the Development of Upper Silesian Metropolis "Moje miasto" [My City]. He has collaborated with architectural studios such as Robert Konieczny’s Promes. He is a lecturer at the faculty of Interior Design at the Regional Education Centre, Katowice. He cooperates with the MOHO Design brand, Poland’s first winner of the Red Dot Award, and with the Ars Cameralis Silesiae Superioris, an institution dedicated to the promotion of Silesia outside Poland. He also works for the CODE Architecture & Design studio, Katowice, Poland’s only winner of the prestigious Best of the Best title in the Red Dot contest.
